Notice For Assistance with Interpretation for Non–English Languages

Please be aware that interpretive services are available for non-English speaking Consumers. If a person is referred to Community Living Options and you determine the individual would benefit from this service, contact the case manger and request this support. The Case manger can pursue authorization from Access Center to use VOICES FOR HEALTH, INC (Language & Culture Services) out of Grand Rapids.

Please be aware that interpretive services are available for non-English speaking persons when using the telephone. This service is offered through AT&T Language Line, and they provide supports in three ways:

•If you receive a call from a non-English speaking person
•If you want to make a call to a non-English speaking person
•If you have someone enter your office/home who does not speak English.

Kalamazoo County Community Mental Health has a contract with AT&T Language Line. If a KCMHS Consumer needs this assistance, request that the Case Manger pursue authorization from Access Center.

Please be aware that several pharmacies can translate prescription information. The following is a partial list as of Feb, 2003

Walgreens: Chinese, Russian, Polish, Portuguese, French, Vietnamese, Spanish
Gull Point Pharmacy: Arabic, Spanish
Suburban: none

Please be aware that the Living Ways Human Resource Director keeps a list of staff names with knowledge in the following areas- ability to speak, read, write languages other than English; in depth awareness of other cultures outside the predominant American Culture.
